Pius XI Reunion Weekend is Fast Approaching

Did you graduate from PXI in ’05, ’00, ’95, ’90, ’85, ’80, ’75, ’70 or ’65? Then your reunion is being held on Saturday, Oct. 23 at Pius XI High School. The evening begins at 5 p.m. with a Mass in the Pius XI Chapel. Cocktails follow in the Field House with International Dinner Stations at 7 p.m. and then there will be music, dancing and more cocktails! It will be an evening full of memories and even a few former and current faculty will drop by for the festivities. Click here to access your class invitation and reply card.

Those who graduated in 1959 or earlier will be celebrating on Sunday, Oct. 24 at Pius XI High School. Mass begins at 10 a.m. in the Pius XI Chapel with Brunch served immediately following. To download the event reply card, click here.

Pius XI Inducts the 10th Annual Athletic Hall of Fame

On September 18, Pius XI High School inducted several honorees into the Athletic Hall of Fame during its 10th annual ceremony. The Athletic Hall of Fame recognizes the achievements of Pius XI athletes and connects us to the past traditions and successes of our rich athletic history. Inductees serve as role models who inspire current Pius XI athletes in their accomplishments.

This year’s honorees are:
- Girls Volleyball Team `92
- Erin McDermott Adricula `88, Cross Country and Track
- Todd Leonardelli `75, Football and Wrestling
- Jenny Heft `96, Basketball and Soccer
- Ron Jurewicz `66, Football, Basketball and Baseball

Pius XI Alum Tony Clark ’96 brings Fox 6’s Real Milwaukee to Pius XI for a Day

Recently Pius XI alum Tony Clark ’96 moved back to his hometown Milwaukee to report for Fox 6’s new morning show Real Milwaukee. When Real Milwaukee decided to head back to high school for the day, Tony couldn’t resist coming back to Pius XI for a visit and we couldn’t wait to have him back. Watch this video to see the fun Tony continues to have at Pius XI and be sure to tune in and watch him in action on Real Milwaukee Monday through Friday from 9 am to 10 am on Milwaukee’s Fox 6.

Pius XI Finance Director named CFO of the Year by the Business Journal Serving Greater Milwaukee

Congratulations to Lynn Roskos, Pius XI Finance Director, who was recently named CFO of the Year in Education by the Business Journal Serving Greater Milwaukee. Lynn was nominated for this very deserving honor by Dr. Melinda Skrade and a few members of the Pius XI Board. She was recognized at the special luncheon and featured in a recent special edition of the Business Journal. Click here to see read the article.

Calling all 8th Graders to Pius XI's Class of 2015

It is recruitment season here at Pius XI High School and we are busy giving tours, speaking at grade schools and getting ready for our big Open House this weekend Sunday, Oct. 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Monday, Oct. 18 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Please help spread the word about this event by passing on this link to any potential Pius XI families.  All alum are welcome to stop by our Open House and see what Pius XI has to offer the Class of 2015.

We also encourage you to share your Pius XI Pride with any and all potential Popes! There are plenty of opportunities for families to come and explore Pius XI. We offer shadow days, Discover Pius XI tours, parent coffees and personal tours of the school. Class Notes

Heidi (Bunek) Hamilton ’85 was inducted into the 2010 Wisconsin Basketball Hall of Fame.

Joelle Karth ’86 recently revived a local chapter of the Tri-M Music Honor Society at Pius XI, inducting 30 initial members. Tri-M is designed to recognize students for their academic and musical achievements.

Congratulations to Joe Muench ’87, co-owner and chef of Maxie’s Southern Comfort. Maxie’s was named as one of Milwaukee’s Top 30 restaurants by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Dining Critic Carol Deptolla. Muench and his co-owner recently opened their second restaurant Blue’s Egg, serving breakfast and lunch, at 317 N. 76th Street, Milwaukee, Wis.

Kevin Kehoss ’91, Pius XI Baseball Coach and faculty member has been elected to the 2010-11 WIAA Baseball Coaches Advisory Committee. Kehoss and his wife recently welcomed their first daughter Kourtney, a future Pope!

Andrea (Geiger) Sorce ’92 was married in September of 2009 to fellow Pius XI alum Vito Sorce ’88. They have recently welcomed a future Pope, Vito Jr. who was born in June, to their new family.

Shelly (Banach) Gebert ’96 was recently awarded her first United States patent titled “microorganisms and methods for treating poultry” while working at Agtech Products, Inc. in Waukesha, Wis. Gebert has a B.S. in Microbiology from UW-Milwaukee. She and her husband welcomed their first son, Jacob in January of 2009.

Emily Rozwadowski, Esq. ’97 has opened her own law firm with a partner in Chicago – Spencer & Rozwadowski, LLP. The firm specialized in estate planning and business law in Illinois.


Justin Zollitsch ’99 was hired by Milwaukee’s WITI Fox 6 as staff meteorologist. Zollitsch received his meteorology degree from UW-Madison and has been working in Green Bay. He starts reporting the weather at the Milwaukee station this month.

Olivia Carbajal ’01 currently resides in Dallas, Texas and is getting ready for her Nov. 20th wedding.

Charles Polzin D.D.S ’03 graduated from Marquette University School of Dentistry and is now working as an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery resident at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, Wis.

Clare Schuetz ’03 recently graduated from the University of St. Thomas/St. Catherine University in Minnesota with a Master of Social Work. Schuetz currently resides in St. Paul, Minn. working in mental health case management for Spanish speaking children and families.
